Monthly Faves: Food, Finds, and Feel-Good Stuff
Hi friends!!
Welcome to a BRAND NEW regular series we are going to start here on Substack! I’ve been brainstorming new ideas for how I can make this Substack the best it can be to help provide you with as much as I can while also building more connection and sharing a bit more behind the-scenes information so you can get to know me and I thought doing some more casual-style posts could be a great option! Although these may not necessarily be strictly recipe focused they will still hopefully provide you with knowledge of new products, new tips/ tricks, and new inspiration for living your most nourished life yet!
Please let me know in the comments if you enjoy this style post and if you have any questions, requests or anything else you would want to see!
If you missed my stories earlier this month, I just got back from spending a week in Mexico with Brandon and his family! It was a great week filled with good food, relaxation and sun! We stayed at Planet Hollywood Cancun and it was great!
Travel favourites
I always get asked what my go-to travel staples are so I will definitely create a whole post on that but one thing I will not travel without is:
HMF travel probiotics: I SWEAR by these! Even though in my day-to-day life I don’t typically rely on probiotics, I won’t travel without these! I find regardless of where I go, the change of routine and foods causes my digestion to get a bit out of whack! These probiotics are great because they don’t need to be kept in the fridge but just help give you gut a bit of help as you navigate a new country!
Organika electrolyte sachets: Once again another thing I can’t travel without! Whenever I travel by plane I really try to prioritize hydration. These sachets are great because they taste amazing and are so easy to travel with (I got stopped at TSA with the electrolyte tub once so these are MUCH more convenient haha)!
Protein bars: If you know me you know I will never go anywhere without snacks. Travel days can be long so I love bringing a few protein energy bars with me in my bag for an easy grab and go snack. My current favourites are Barbell Bars, RXBAR and Simply Protein!
Water Bottle: my Owala has been on every trip with me since i got it! It’s the perfect travel companion (just make sure you open the lid slightly before takeoff to avoid a pressure build up in the straw)!
From the blog
This week my current favourites have been:
Protein packed chia pudding: I always try to prioritize fiber when I’m traveling so the chia pudding at the morning breakfast buffet became a daily staple! It reminded me how much I loved chia pudding so when I got home I KNEW I needed to prep a big batch of my protein chia pudding with 30g of protein!
Buffalo chicken salad: an easy versatile protein source that has been a staple for quick, easy lunches (because the week after vacation is always rough)
Go to snack of the week: cottage cheese, with everything but the bagel seasoning and cucumbers on a rice cake- the BEST savoury combo for a quick and easy option!
Books:
As a huge lover of books there has been SO many new releases recently i am pumped about!
I just finished Sunrise on the Reaping the newest addition to the Hunger Games series and I'm loving it. I loved the hunger games when they first came out and learning Haymitch's story has hooked me! It definitely refueled my love of the series and I am now rewatching all the movies!
I Hope You Remember; Josie writes amazing poetry about friendship, love, loss, and life in general that is so relatable. Me and my cross country best friends and I constantly share her poetry videos with each other and decided to all buy her new book (it just came out May 13th) and I already love it!
Things that have made me happy:
The WEATHER! I feel like this winter has been a very grey and depressing winter so the sun and warmth recently has been bringing me life
Patio furniture! After living here for 8 months we just purchased new outdoor furniture (it was such a great price at Walmart) to furnish the balcony and I am so excited to host all the patio pizza parties!
Salads! The warmer weather has been making me CRAVE all the salads. A new salad place opened around the corner from my house and they are SO good - Torontonians- Forest Hill Farmhouse in now open in Liberty Village and the crispy buffalo chicken salad is 10/10!
ClassPass! After moving to Toronto i struggled finding a consistent workout routine I loved. Our building has a gym so I didn't need a gym membership but wanted to get out of the house a few times a week. So instead of spending $$$$ on a single fitness studio unlimited pass I’ve been using ClassPass and loving the freedom it gives me to try out new studios!
I think that's it for this month's roundup! I hope you enjoyed a little tidbit into what my life has been looking like recently, as always please let me know if you have any questions or requests or let me know you favourites of the month below!!
Coming up: we have LOTS of new spring/ summer recipes coming (and YES the pasta series will be continuing)! I’m heading back to London to visit my best friend for my birthday and then to the Costa del sol in Spain for a week so PLEASE let me know if you have any Malaga recommendations!
